Thomas "Tom" V. Mizicko

VIENNA- Thomas V. Mizicko, 87, beloved father and grandfather, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on July 27, 2018, at Ames Family Hospice, Westlake, Ohio, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Tom was born on March 22, 1931, in Fowler (formerly Nutwood), Ohio, to Michael and Mary (Murcko) Mizicko. He graduated from Vienna High School in 1948 and had served in the United States Army from 1954-1956 in Germany, during the Korean War. Following his discharge he worked for Republic Steel / LTV / WCI, where he retired from in 1997. 

Tom owned Mizicko Nursery, where he passionately cultivated trees, shrubs, Christmas trees and a large variety of fruits and vegetables, especially pumpkins on Halloween, which he generously shared with his family and friends.  Tom will be remembered for his smile, his infectious laugh and his quiet, calm demeanor. He loved sports and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan.  He was a proud member of the Cortland Moose Club and enjoyed dancing on Saturday nights.

Tom is survived also by his children, David (Laura) Mizicko of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Ann (Stephen) Mobley of Sterrett, Alabama, Mary Kay (Neil) Greenberg of Westlake, Ohio, Joanne (Paul) Perrotti of Jacksonville, Florida, and Timothy Mizicko of Los Angeles, California.  In addition, he is survived by his grandchildren, Todd, Nicholas and Ashley Mizicko, Nathan and Sarah Greenberg, Amanda, Jonathan, Lauren and Connor Flynn, and great granddaughter Jordan Smith. He is also survived by his siblings, Mary Ann Dickson, Michael Mizicko Jr., James (Flo) Mizicko, Margaret “Toots” (John) Phillips, Dolores Rupert, Elinor (Martin) Bottar, Robert “Bob” Mizicko, and Richard (Laura) Mizicko. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his oldest son, Edward., and by his brother William “Bill” Mizicko, and an infant sister Frances.

Friends may pay their respects on Monday evening from 5:00-7:00PM at Dillon & Santucci Funeral Home, 4471 Warren-Sharon Rd, Vienna, Ohio 44473

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday morning at 10:00AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church at 4481 Warren-Sharon Rd, Vienna, Ohio with the Very Rev. Frank Zanni V.F. as Pastor.

Burial will follow at Crown Hill Burial Park.
